A banner says ‘God damn democracy’ in the pro-Morsi protests in Istanbul

A group of people who gathered together after the Friday prayers in Fatih Mosque, held a funeral service outside of the mosque for those who were killed in Egypt. They said: ‘Neither military coup, nor democracy, we support umma and caliphate’. The group who chanted ‘Allahu Ekber’ (‘God is great’) also carried banners saying ‘God damn Sisi, God damn democracy, the voice of caliphate is coming.’

The prime minister Erdogan and the governor of Fatih district Mustafa Demir led the Friday prayers in the mosque. While leaving the mosque Erdogan’s son Bilal Erdogan came across the demonstration and joined the funeral service, taking his place at the back. After the funeral service Bilal Erdogan left but the demonstration continued.
